Kraken

A major crypto exchange whose real-time price feed is included in poly5m-v4's multi-exchange median alongside Binance and Coinbase.

Definition

Kraken is a long-standing cryptocurrency exchange known for its reliability and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions. It publishes real-time price data via WebSocket and is one of the exchanges aggregated by Chainlink RTDS for its BTC and ETH price feeds. Kraken's XBT/USD pair (its ticker for BTC) is commonly used in institutional contexts.

In practice

Poly5m-v4 subscribes to Kraken's WebSocket feed for XBT/USD and ETH/USD alongside Binance and Coinbase. The three prices are combined into a median, which is then compared to the Polymarket YES/NO mid-price to generate directional signals. Kraken often shows slightly different prices from Binance due to liquidity differences and regional demand. Including Kraken reduces the risk of a bot acting on a Binance flash price that the Chainlink oracle (which also includes Kraken) would not reflect.
